What we are looking for:
The Associate Director, SEO will provide process, strategic leadership, and oversight for the organic services channel of Amsive. The Associate Director will primarily support resource development and management with the goal of increasing growth, retention, and efficiency. You will also support strategy and business development for Amsive’s organic services and assist in the day-to-day management of individual SEO programs or projects to ensure performance and profitability. While this role's primary focus is SEO, you will work closely with our Director of AEO/GEO to incorporate AI search recommendations into client strategies as part of a holistic approach to organic visibility.

What you will be doing:
Account Management & Business Development
- Oversee, advise, or assist in management of key accounts by building client relationships and managing project delivery as needed to ensure client retention and/or expansion.
- Support business development team on RFP’s, provide strategy PowerPoint presentations, and written proposals as needed. Support Account Directors and Strategists on upsells, program expansions, account cross-sells, or addendums for existing clients.
- Provide guidance through strategic and tactical input to team members for successful execution of SEO program or projects.
- Analyze performance data and help develop key insights for quarterly and annual business reviews for key accounts.
- Work closely with Account Directors and Strategists for SEO strategy alignment with client goals.
- Work closely with our Director of AEO/GEO to implement AI search (Answer Engine and Generative Engine Optimization) recommendations alongside SEO strategy; while this role's primary focus is SEO, you will partner closely with our AI search practice to deliver well-rounded organic results for clients.
- Work closely with Business Development and Sales in developing SEO program or project plans and scope definitions.
- Support execution of strategies as needed for SEO clients.
- Review proposals and SOWs to ensure technology fees and resource hours are accurately scoped before Channel Director(s) approval and delivery to clients.
- Ensure accurate account resource time tracking across the organic services Channel; review tracked resource hours to ensure that execution time is within the expected ranges and recommend scope updates as needed.
- Directly manage 2+ SEO strategists of varying levels (associate-senior) and oversee the respective teams reporting to those strategists.
- Work with team members to develop basic, intermediate, and advanced SEO knowledge with the goal of advancing staff 1-2 levels within 2 years; inspire a love of SEO and digital marketing in all SEO team members.
- Develop and curate training curriculum and materials in partnership with other Associate Directors and Channel Director(s) to support organic services and education of SEO team members of all levels in all areas of SEO.
- Ensure existing organic training curriculum and materials are examined semi-annually and updated as needed, in partnership with Channel Director(s).
- Foster an intellectually challenging staff culture with the goal of driving continual learning and improvement across all team levels.
- Ensure timely interim and annual reviews are executed for all team members and that clear, tangible goals established through these reviews are regularly evaluated.
- Lead and facilitate SEO channel meetings and huddles, developing internal team communications and advancing team-wide learnings with industry best practices; ensure participation and critical thinking are exercised.
- Participate in company huddles and/or cross channel trainings as an SEO subject matter expert.
- Provide support and recognition for all SEO teams and effectively foster teamwork that drives motivation and retention.
- Participate in the training, individual development, onboarding, and mentoring of staff across all skills.
- Support Channel and company hiring activities, conduct interviews and document evaluations for prospective and current employees as needed.
- Oversee procurement and management of external organic services contractors and freelancers; regularly evaluate, ensuring alignment with account and Channel budgets as well as adherence to standards of excellence.
- Evaluate, recommend, and contract vendors to support channel performance and profitability in partnership with the Channel Director(s).
- Support Channel Director(s) in managing and continually improving division workflow with thoughtful assignment of accounts across team members based on team capacity.
- Regularly analyze team capacity with strategists to ensure resource hours are spent efficiently and effectively using time tracking analytics. Report capacity back to Channel Director(s) on a monthly basis.
- Contribute to organic search thought leadership, innovation, process improvement initiatives for the agency and its clients; execute in partnership with Channel Director(s).
- Keep abreast of industry developments, participate in internal marketing discussions, and facilitate knowledge transfer with the team as it impacts client work.
- Contribute to the development of new product offerings and practice innovations. Contribute to corporate initiatives, automation projects, process changes, and roll-outs.
- Develop tools to improve efficiency and advance the practice.
- Recommend organic services measurements, monitoring, methodologies and platforms for agency adoption and execute in partnership with Channel Director.
Who you are:
- 7+ years of experience in organic search engine marketing, agency experience preferred
- Expert ability to plan and execute strategically to drive growth for both our clients and the company
- Proven team leadership and management experience with ability to grow direct reports
- Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to interact with people at all levels of an organization, fostering strong cross-functional teamwork and positive attitudes
- Strong project management and organization skills, ability to prioritize and manage multiple teams and projects
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with proven ability to speak and write persuasively in marketing and interpersonal contexts, including in pitches and c-suite meetings
- Strong proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite: particularly Excel and PowerPoint
- Expert knowledge of standard and enterprise SEO tools, including GA4, Google Seach Console, enterprise crawlers such as Botify, Screaming Frog, Content King, Moz (including STAT), Conductor Searchlight and/or BrightEdge, SEMrush, Ahrefs, etc.
- Proficiency in HTML preferred
